- Find the world folder on your PC. Normally, it's called
world, but can have a custom name.
- Make sure it contains files like
level.dat, region/, and data/.
- If uploading from singleplayer, open your saves folder (
%appdata%/.minecraft/saves).
- For modded servers, make sure you select the correct folder for that modpack!
Tip: To upload faster, compress your world folder into a .zip file!
- Use SFTP to transfer your world to your server securely.
- Not sure how? Follow our SFTP Guide for step-by-step installation and connection help ().
Warning: Always stop your server before uploading or replacing your world! This avoids file corruption.
- Navigate to your server’s root
/ directory in FileZilla or your SFTP client.
- If replacing, delete the existing world folder (
world or custom name).
- Drag and drop your own world folder (or .zip) from your PC to the server.
- If you uploaded a .zip, use the web file manager to extract/unzip it (right-click → Extract).
- Check that the files inside
world/ match the original structure (level.dat etc).
Tip: You can change the world name in server.properties for custom folders! Edit level-name=yourworld.
- Edit
server.properties and set level-name to your world folder name if needed.
- Start your server from the dashboard.
- Connect via Minecraft: you should spawn in your uploaded world!
Note: If you see an empty world, double check the level-name and folder structure.
Solutions: Check your server.properties for correct level-name. Ensure the world folder is in the root directory and contains level.dat. Upload again if needed.
Solutions: Make sure your SFTP upload completed successfully and the zip was properly extracted. Try again, or upload the folder directly instead of zipped.
