Set up a password for your Discord account to access SFTP and other features.
This is a quick one-time setup that takes less than 5 minutes!
When you sign up with Discord, you're using Discord's secure login system. However, some features like SFTP file transfer require a traditional username and password for security reasons.
Don't worry! Setting up a password is easy and won't affect your Discord login. You'll still be able to sign in with Discord as usual!
First, you need to log out of your current session to access the password reset feature.
Note: Don't worry about losing anything - all your servers and settings will be exactly the same when you log back in!
Now you're on the login page. Instead of trying to log in, you'll use the "Forgot Password" feature to set up your password.
Smart Tip: This is the same process you'd use if you actually forgot a password - but we're using it to create your first password!
You'll now see a form asking for your email address. Enter the same email address that's connected to your Discord account.
Not sure what email you used? Check your Discord settings or look at old Discord emails in your inbox!
Within a few minutes, you should receive a password reset email. This email will contain a special link to create your new password.
Email not arriving? Wait 15 minutes, check spam folder, or try the process again with the exact same email address.
Click the link in the email, and you'll be taken to a page where you can create your new password. Choose something secure but memorable!
Remember: You'll use this password for SFTP and other features, but you can still log in with Discord as usual!
Congratulations! You now have a password set up for your account. You can now:
